Sandra Hewitt-Parsons is an art psychotherapist, published author, guest lecturer and workshop presenter. As the first art psychotherapist in her region, she is the founder of her own private practice (Safe Harbour Expressive Therapies) in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Sandra has also pioneered several art-based programs in nearby rural areas where mental health services are often quite limited.

A survivor of a major childhood stroke, Sandra truly believes in the healing power of art-making. Drawing on a person-centred, culturally sensitive and trauma informed framework, she invites clients to participate in a variety of multimodal techniques designed to promote their own potential. Encouraging expression more so than verbalisation, Sandra specialises in supporting people who are struggling with issues such as post-traumatic stress, anxiety, dissociation as well as grief and loss. Recently certified in Guided Drawing and Trauma Tapping, she continues to expand her knowledge of body focused modalities.

Clients may be able to receive reimbursement for Sandra’s services with most Canadian insurances.
